November 2011 Blog Income Report

December is now upon us and Christmas is well and truly underway in my household, I’ve taken to seeking refuge in my office to keep out of the way and pretend it isn’t happening. I’m not a Christmas person at all.

Page Impressions & Visitor Count

The unique visitor count for November stands at 3,774, which is another nice increase of 569 from the month of October.

The page impression count for November stands at 6,818, which is a massive increase of 1,253 from the month of October.

This means that each unique visitor looked at 1.81 pages.

My bounce rate has improved slightly from 73.35% to 70.48%.

– I am really pleased to see that I managed to increase both unique traffic and page impressions by over 500 and 1000 respectively. I thought October was a fluke but thankfully that doesn’t seem to be true. 🙂

Show Me The Money!

Adbrite = $0.38 (+$0.19)
Clicksor = $0.36 (Re-added)
ContextWeb (AdsDaq) = $1.26 (+$0.10)
Fidelity Media (AdJuggler) = $0.45 (+$0.04)
Passive Income = $12.42 (-$2.88)
Private Writing = $410.00 (+$30.00)
Reviews = $208.37 (+$1.46)
Smowtion = $0.24 (-$0.02)
Traffic Revenue = $0.18 (-$0.16)
UnderDog = $0.28 (+$0.07)

Total = $633.94 (+$25.16)

– I am going to stop using Traffic Revenue because they are displaying far too many ads that are redirecting my readers to other sites. I’ve contacted them and they have tried to solve the problem but I can’t risk losing more traffic.

– Clicksor have been given another run by me. I wanted to replace Traffic Revenue and thought I’d give Clicksor another shot. They doing OK for the amount of traffic & clicks I’m sending them.

– I’m going to start slowly scaling back on the amount of private writing that I am doing because I think I can do better than write 1000 word articles for $3-$5 a pop.

– My passive income took a slight nose dive but I did absolutely nothing to add to it last month.

Top Five Search Terms

I like this part of the monthly income report. It is amazing how people find this blog on search engines.

1. most successful business ideas
2. my plans for the future
3. most successful businesses
4. pros and cons of social media marketing
5. most successful business

– I seem to have struck a cord with a post that was posted in October about the five most successful business ideas in history, three of the top five search terms were linked to that blog post.

– My favourite search term last month was ‘how to look cute while sitting around the house’ I have no idea what they thought my blog was about but I hope they were not too disappointed.

My Targets For December

Break 4,000 & 7,000 Traffic Barriers – I will try and reach or break the 4,000 barrier for unique hits and 7,000 barrier for page impressions. I think this will be rather easy to achieve if I continue to do what I have been doing the past couple of months.

Lower My Bounce Rate – My bounce rate is something that I have never really bothered with but according to other more experienced bloggers it is something I should be looking to lower in the not too distant future.

Get Back To Passive Writing – I have neglected my passive writing articles lately (articles I have written for publication on article sites that generate passive income for me) so I think writing one article a week for Hubpages, InfoBarrel and Bukisa is a good place to start.

Increase My Freelancing Fee – Since I started freelancing I have been working for peanuts, receiving maybe $5 at the most for 500+ articles, this is because of the amount of people willing to undercut each other just for an extra Buck. No more, from today I’m putting my prices up and to hell if I don’t make another dime.

This blog, and me earning money online, would not be possible if it was not for those awesome folk over at Bluehost. If you are looking for quality, reliable and cheap hosting then I urge you to check them out today.

January 2017 Blog Income Report

Every month since November 2007 I have written an income report which documents all the methods I have used to make money over the past month, I do this because I want to help people to make money online like I do, and believe that showing people what I earn is the best way to …

  1. Hey Dean 🙂

    Well done on your earnings in Nov; a slight improvement on the previous month, no?

    I’m all for you increasing your rate. You definitely deserve to charge more as you’re a good writer. Your blog is a testament to that.

    When I increased my rates earlier this year, I found people willing to pay what I charged. The ones that couldn’t afford it couldn’t afford it. No hard feelings on my part.

    Charge more. The clients are out there. Those fighting over lesser-paid work aren’t your competition.

    Have a great December’rer’rer. 🙂

    • Ebele! 🙂

      I’m very happy with the results from last month. Long may it continue.

      Thank you, that is the nicest compliment I’ve had in months. 🙂

      Increasing my rates is something I’ve wanted to do for a while. I am concerned because when I first started freelancing a couple of potential clients were saying something along the lines of “why should I pay $50+ for an article when I can get over a dozen for that price?” But hopefully you will be proved right and I’ll find clients willing to pay a bit more. 🙂

      I hope all is well in your world, and have a fantastic month yourself. 🙂

      • The clients who think they can get a cheaper deal, well that says more about them, not you.

        I had one person approach me offering to pay less than $0.01/word. I politely told him I wasn’t interested. However, he seemed insistent and messaged me again offering me a higher rate, which was still really low, less than $0.01/word. Again I declined and told him I charge a lot more than what he was offering and stated what it was. He was shocked and I think he didn’t believe me. He then went on to congratulate me if I can find clients willing to pay me what I charge. I detected a touch of sarcasm, so I told him that I do have clients like that and left it at that.

        You would have thought I was saying no to him asking me out on a date or something (eye roll).

        When I first started writing online few years ago, I was charging $0.01/word, then I soon went up to $0.02/word. I wasn’t confident about it because everybody seemed to be charging less. But I stuck to my guns.

        It also helps to surround yourself with writing blogs/forums where people are charging more. It really gets you into that frame of mind where you charge what you’re worth.

        Anyway, good luck. With the impressive amount you’ve already made at a lesser rate per article, you’ve proven you have the drive. All you need now is to up your rate and find the clients willing to pay your worth. They’re out there.

        Take care…

  2. Dean really good results. Congratulations. Sure you can do better, but it all depends on the choices you make, depends on our priorities, values and so on.

    I’m new to the blog and I am a newbie to the internet, but I agree fully with Ebele when he says that your blog is a testament. At the next report. 🙂

  3. It seem to me that you have good command over writing that’s why you earned a lot with.You have joined almost all high revenue generating affiliate services.I’m pretty sure that your earning figure will be double soon.

  5. Don’t sell yourself short… You seem to have a good command of the written English language, which is more than I can say about most freelance writers these days.

    Anyone not willing to pay you $0.02 to $0.03 per word for an article should not use a “dedicated” writer. There are plenty of article-writing services that charge less. Lots of those services have varying quality levels, but even they charge $0.02 per word for good quality articles.

    I think the reason why most people want to pay $0.01 is that they aren’t good enough READERS to know quality writing when they see it. Or, they are content to post and distribute crap all over the Internet… which, personally, I believe to be the greater crime.

    Thanks for posting this earnings report, by the way. Transparency is grossly underrated.

    • Thank you Brad. I’ve been posting my Blog Income Report since November 2007 and have no plans to stop it any time soon. 🙂

      I’m not going to let these people put me off and am now very determined to increase my price. 🙂

  6. I like the fact you dont fake it like onibalusi 🙂

    • Does Onibalusi fake his income reports then? I know a lot of people do but that is shocking to hear that Onibalusi is one of them.

      • Its hard to digest the fact that he is getting 70-80 per article. I mean he writes ok, nothing extraordinary. I mean the max one will pay for that is 10, he is not a copywriter so why would anyone pay so much for such ordinary english, thats only my opinion though 🙂

        Tomorrow I can start a similar blog with similar income reports and collect your email, you would believe me 😉 obviously you would 😉 then I would spam you with cb offers 🙁

        I am not a hater but as far as I am concerned “Pics or didnt happen” 😉

        • I did wonder how he was earning so much from guest-blogging when his English isn’t up to scratch. I just put it down to the fact that he had made such a good reputation with blog owners that they overlooked his poor grasp of English.

          Do you mean pics like this and this? 😛

  7. Well done on the income. Dude, that’s a lot from private writing. I did that one year, but had more success with some affiliate marketing…I’m too lazy to write all of the time for as little as people want to pay. Either way, congrats and keep up the good work!
