Google Gives Us An Early Christmas Present By Updating Page Rank

This morning I received a nice surprise as I was casually updating some of my blogs that I own, I discovered that Google had given us an early Christmas present by updating Page Rank.

Some of my blogs stayed as they were but four of my blogs climbed in PR. My personal blog went from PR2 to PR3, my professional wrestling blog jumped from a PR3 to a PR4 and my hosting blog increased from a PR2 to a PR3.

But most pleasing of all was the Page Rank for this blog, it rose majestically from a PR3 to a PR5. I have never had a blog or web site with a Page Rank higher than 4 before, so I am very pleased about this.

The last time Google updated Page Rank was in August, I believe, and they increased this blog’s PR but then a week later halved it. The blog had gone from PR2 to a PR4 but was then reduced to a PR3. I’m hoping the same doesn’t happen this time.

How did you do?

  1. No update for me! πŸ™ This can be regarded as a good thing too, because it wasn’t a negative update.

  2. Hey great news…now i can try to bring traffic once again..

  3. yeah!I’m happy to see all my projects PR.I always feel great pleasure while I see the outcome of quality stuff.I think Google’s update is much precious than a Christmas gift.Gonna celebrate Christmas this time with my family.

  4. Congratulations PR5 which is very difficult to obtain.

  5. My sites went:

    4 > 4

    Not rated > 0

    0 > 2

Overall I am fairly pleased with that. It’s all about the effort you put in really. To go up the ratings you need to post quality content on a regular basis as a minimum.

Well done on your climb up to PR5, this is not easy to achieve.

  6. Google is really given a Christmas present for all by improving PR

  7. I may be wrong but I was under the assumption the Google PR rankings are updated on an ongoing basis. Is it that they do it all at once for sites? I do know that I was pleased when I saw that one of my site did have a decent PR, higher then I thought it would be. Merry Christmas Google!

  8. How I wish I could have the same. My PR just dropped from PR3 to PR2. I wonder what happened. Whas it their algorithm or my blog? πŸ™‚

    • I’m not sure, maybe you should just carry on doing what you were doing. The last time Google updated I saw my PR go from 2 to 4 and then back to 3 in the space of a week.

  9. Congrats on the improvements in some of your sites, Dean, especially for achieving PR5 with this blog. As for me, some of my sites have increased in PR but unfortunately, that has not translated into more traffic.

  10. If it is a gift for you well it is not for me. It’s like a nightmare.

From pr4 I down to pr3. But the other remaining sites maintained their pr. This site was the most I worked on with, so I’m expecting it to be of higher pr but I was disappointed.

  11. Congratulations, PR5 is really difficult to attain. Now I know why Facbook and Google’s page rank dropped by 1 point.

  12. Hi!

Congratulations for the high PR! It really improves the value of your blog. I am new to the blogging world and hope to get a good PR by google. Can you give me some tips for this?

  14. No change for my site. In fact, I haven’t seen a change in literally years. Strange, since my site ranks well and I get decent traffic. Fortunately I don’t put much stock in the whole pr thing.

    • The only reason I look at PR is because I take part heavily in sponsored posts and the clients only go by PR. πŸ™‚

This blog dropped from a pr3 to a PR0 and stayed like that for about two years before I started seeing an increase again. πŸ™‚

  15. WOW. PR5! That’s quite a leap. My sites are down to or stuck at PR 2 with one still at PR1

    • I actually jumped out of my chair when I saw my new PR. I’m not counting my chickens yet though, the update we had before this one saw this blog jump from PR1 to PR4 and then two days later dropped to PR 3.

I’m sure things will change for you with the next update. πŸ™‚
