Gaining Entry To The UK As An Entrepreneur

It can be easy to assume that the global economic outlook is negative for everyone, but there are still plenty of opportunities to find markets that are growing and provide financial opportunities. This is definitely the outlook for the United Kingdom. There may be a lot of debate and discussion over whether Britain will remain part of the European union, and of course, there is always going to be talk about immigration in Britain but with respect to economics, things may be looking up in the UK.

This is the opinion of the National institute of Economic and Social Research has made a number of predictions about the UK in 2016 and one of these predictions is that they expect the economy to grow by 2.3%. This hasn’t altered from the prediction made by the same body in November of 2015 and there has been an improved consideration on the output from earlier in 2015. This is because the rate of increase was tipped to be 2.2% so it definitely looks as though the economy is moving in the right direction.

The Government wants to bring in the right people

There is also the fact that the UK Government is looking to make things easier for businesses to recruit the best employees and talent, particularly in the technology industry. This means that many people are viewing the UK as being an exciting place for entrepreneurs in 2016, so you can see why so many people are looking to move to the UK and get to work.

The UK is battling with different arguments and issues at the moment which has led to some confusion with respect to immigrants. There is no getting away from the fact that the government would love to welcome more entrepreneurs who can provide employment and value in the economy. This would convince some people that there may be an opening of the floodgates but of course, this isn’t going to happen. The UK Government is fully committed to reducing immigration levels, which means that they won’t allow just anyone in to the country.

Entrepreneurs have the chance to enter the UK and make a living

There have been a lot of people gaining entry to the UK via the Tier 1 Entrepreneurial method and there have been calls made about whether everyone should have gained access. There are currently calls for changes to be made to this route with people citing fraud as a reason to make changes. There will likely be changes made in the near future, but the Tier 1 Entrepreneurial stream is still of benefit and interest to people looking to find a way into the United Kingdom.

In order to make a successful application for the Tier 1 Entrepreneurial stream, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Access to £50,000 or £200,000 in investment funding – depending on which route you aim to take
  • A minimum of 95 points for the Points Based entry system
  • A grasp of the English language
  • Being at least 16 years old
  • Being able to support yourself during your stay in the UK

The sums of money associated with this route are high but there is an opportunity for people to work as a team and share fund to meet the requirements. This may be something that is of benefit or interest to some people but of course, there will be additional caveats and requests associated with this partnership.

When looking to enter the UK in this way, there is also a need to come in with a business plan, and this is now mandatory. This means it is vital that you actually have an idea for a business and have put thoughts together on how best to set up a business. It may be best to seek advice from a business advisor before you initiate your attempts to move to the UK on this visa.

You should also look to speak with a specialist with regards to immigration law in the UK. There is a great deal to be said for finding a specialist immigration solicitor who can provide you with guidance, tips and information on how to make the most of your chance of living and working in the UK.
